A dynamic performer, soprano Abla Lynn Hamza has been described as having “a genuinely beautiful (voice), warm, liquescent and nimble” (Dallas Morning News). She “excelled as Ofelia” (London Financial Times) in Opera Southwest’s Amleto (Franco Faccio). Abla also performed roles by Verdi to critical acclaim, including Giselda in Sarasota Opera’s I Lombardi where “her coloratura…brought down the house” (Opera News), and Violetta in St. Petersburg Opera’s La Traviata. Additional roles include the title role in Suor Angelica (Opera Southwest), Bianca in La Rondine (Dallas Opera), Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte, and Clorinda in La Cenerentola (Sarasota Opera.) Abla is equally comfortable performing concerts and recitals, and has performed with organizations such as the Artist Series of Sarasota, DCINY at Carnegie Hall, and the San Diego Opera in Recital at the Athenaeum. Upcoming performances include recitals with the Opera á la Carte at the New Village Arts in Carlsbad, and performances with Mission Aria in Poway. Abla is the founder and director of Opera á la Carte.
